Dyson Cyclone V10 Review: Is It Finally a Coded Vacuum Cleaner?

Up to 1 hour on a full charge. Did you come ...!

The other day, Dyson founder James Dyson said, "We will not develop a vacuum cleaner with a cord in the future." The reason why Dyson introduced is the latest cordless vacuum cleaner, Cyclone V10. According to Dyson, the Cyclone V10 has an upgraded motor with higher suction and a longer usable time per charge.

That said, can a battery-powered cordless vacuum fill behind a corded vacuum? In my own experience, that's possible. And with the latest Cyclone V10, with a few issues, it's so great that Dyson's premium price may finally seem reasonable.

・ What is Cyclone V10? : Rechargeable cordless vacuum cleaner that is said to replace the cordless vacuum cleaner

・ Price: 500-700 dollars (about 53,000-75,000 yen), depending on the attached accessories

-Favorite: Unless you live in a huge mansion, you can use it as a substitute for a vacuum cleaner with a cord.

・ I don't like it: I can't use it for 10 minutes with Power Max.

I feel uncomfortable if the floor isn't clean, so five or six years ago I wouldn't have thought of letting go of a Dyson-coded vacuum cleaner that would keep sucking for hours. But since I bought the rechargeable Dyson DC59, it's becoming an alternative to a corded vacuum cleaner. And since I got the previous model of Cyclone V10, Dyson V8, two years ago, the corded vacuum cleaner has been left in the closet.

If you live in a huge mansion and have dozens of rooms, or if you don't mind the trash that takes a whole day to clean, I wouldn't recommend a cordless vacuum. But if you don't like to run cords or heavy machines around and can tolerate an endless loop of cleaning every time your room gets dirty, Dyson's evolution in the Cyclone V10 may mean freeing you from a corded vacuum cleaner.

The Cyclone V10 has been redesigned for the first time in a few years as a Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner. According to Dyson, the heart motor V10 rotates at 125,000 rpm. As for how fast it is, it seems that it was necessary to change to a stronger ceramic because the G applied to the rotating parts is too strong and it will break with conventional materials.

When it comes to where and how that wonderful technology is useful, the suction power is just amazing. Certainly I actually tried it and felt it. In the test, not only dust and soil, but also a lump of crude salt for melting snow was sucked in steadily. The direct drive cleaner head has also been redesigned and has an adjustable opening in the front to allow larger debris to be sucked in. So, with the Cyclone V10, you can easily inhale things like cereals that used to be frustrating because you just pushed them without going into the head.

Since the Cyclone V10 aims to completely replace the corded vacuum cleaner, the capacity of the garbage storage is 40% larger than the previous model. It's smaller than Dyson's past full-frame vacuum cleaners, but it's easy to dispose of, so it doesn't seem like a burden to dispose of it more often.

The Cyclone V10's trash bin has changed direction, making it easier to dispose of trash. It's true that compared to before, it wasn't necessary to scatter the contents when taking out the trash, but it is important to note that after throwing it away, it has become a mechanism to lock it like never before. I forgot about it, and I had a problem that the garbage storage part popped open in an unexpected place.

If you forget to lock the lever, the garbage storage will suddenly open.

Three power settings. MAX consumes a lot of battery.

A function to notify you of clogging has also been added.

A scraper inside the garbage storage that was introduced in V8. Clean the filter tightly every time.

The charging port has also been improved. There should also be less electric shock (which was a problem with the V8).

There are many other improvements in Cyclone V10. For example, there are three levels of filters, such as the one that sometimes cleans (forgets) the filter, the power meter that tells you the battery level more accurately, and the function that notifies you of clogging when you inhale something that is too big. Power settings that can be adjusted and the battery can be used effectively.

However, it seems that some people have good and bad points when it comes to power settings. While the Cyclone V10 is certainly packed with great, expensive technology, one of the challenges Dyson's R & D department hasn't been able to overcome is the battery. According to Dyson, the Cyclone V10 can be used for 1 hour on a single charge, which is 20 minutes longer than the previous Cyclone V8, but it is the lowest power setting, with a minimum of power-free accessories. This is the case when only the garbage is inhaled.

In fact, when I tested it, the battery life of the Cyclone V10 was definitely shorter depending on how it was used. When cleaning a carpet full of dust, I attached a direct drive attachment and sucked it with Power MAX, but it went from full charge to zero in just 8 minutes.

But if the carpet wasn't too dirty, I could use it for 37 minutes with the Cyclone V10's minimum power setting (the garbage bin would still fill up in about 15 minutes).

Battery life has improved when cleaning flooring, which has less resistance to the rotating brushes of the Cyclone V10's head. Even with the MAX setting, it could be used for a little over 9 minutes on a full charge, and it lasted for 52 minutes at the lowest power. It's still less than an hour, but it's certainly longer than previous models.

Is Cyclone V10 finally a cordless-only and OK era? For those who can tolerate the limitations of the Cyclone V10, the answer is yes. Cleaning styles such as cleaning once a month all day are not possible, but the Cyclone V10 is lighter and easier to use than a traditional corded vacuum cleaner, so it naturally becomes more frequent and gets too dirty. You will be able to take the initiative before.

As I wrote above, Dyson's cordless vacuums have replaced corded vacuums. With Cyclone V10, that switch would be easier. The Cyclone V10 is suitable for apartments, condominiums, and small single-family homes with a focus on flooring, but living in a huge house doesn't mean you can't use it at all. If you don't mind the price of Dyson (Cyclone V10 is $ 500- $ 700 ≒ $ 53,000-75,000 depending on the accessories that come with it), the convenience of not having a cord is the inconvenience that the battery is not forever. It should be enough to make up for it.

summary

If your home isn't a mansion and you're willing to change your cleaning habits, the Cyclone V10 can be an alternative to a corded vacuum cleaner.

-Battery life is the biggest weakness of Cyclone V10. Cleaning the carpet with the MAX setting will only last 8 minutes. If you weaken the power setting on the flooring, you can use it for a longer time.

・ It's expensive! The base model is $ 500 (about 53,000 yen).

・ It cannot be used while charging, so if the battery runs out, you have to wait three and a half hours until it can be charged.

-The direction of the garbage storage has changed, making it easier to use in terms of ergonomics. The garbage capacity is also increased by 40% from the previous V8.

-Redesigned garbage storage makes it easier to dispose of garbage. There is also one filter.

-The suction power at the MAX setting is excellent, and it is so strong that it is very difficult to move with a carpet.
